AMC has released first look images and a release date for its upcoming Walking Dead spin-off, Tales of The Walking Dead.
The studio has announced that the spin-off, which will be an anthology series based on new and existing characters within The Walking Dead universe, will premiere on August 14th. They also shared a set of images that give us our first look at the series, one of which features the return of Samantha Morton as Alpha.

Given the events of The Walking Dead, we know Alpha’s return will be handled in a backstory and that’s what gives the show many exciting creative options moving forward. The show is designed to allow the introduction of new characters as well as expanding on beloved characters from the past.
Tales of The Walking Dead also boasts a star-studded lineup that includes Lost in Space‘s Parker Posey, X-Men: Apocalypse‘s Olivia Munn, Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Terry Crews, and Top Gun: Maverick‘s Danny Ramirez.
This latest spin-off marks the franchise’s fourth series, following on from The Walking Dead, Fear The Walking Dead, and Walking Dead: World Beyond. Future spin-offs in the works include a Daryl Dixon-centered story as well as a Maggie/Negan spin-off titled Isle of The Dead, which will be set in New York City.
The series will debut with a two-episode premiere on AMC+, with new episodes streaming a week earlier than the network release, as has been the case with the latest seasons of both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
