Zuko-centric Avatar Film Coming in 2026

Last week, Avatar Studios made their first huge announcement of 2023: Zuko, the franchise’s beloved antagonist-turned-ally, is getting a solo film in 2026.

There are currently three animated films in the works, and while the first will focus on the “Gaang” (Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko) as young adults, Zuko is set to be the star of the second movie. The expected release date for this film is October 9, 2026—almost exactly one year after the Gaang film is set to hit theaters. A brand new animated series is also scheduled for 2025.

Dante Basco will be returning as Zuko’s voice actor. Although no plot details have been announced yet, I’m hoping that this new story will finally reveal, or at least strongly imply, who Izumi’s mother is. Is it Zuko’s old flame, Mai, or someone else entirely? Fingers crossed that we find out in 2026!

Stay tuned for more updates about the Avatar world!
