TRANSFORMERS G1 “Reissue” Black OPTIMUS PRIME Knock-Off Review

The Original G1 Transformer toy of Optimus Prime, the Autobot Leader, is one of the most reissued and recolored toys in the entire line. Takara had released a black version, but this isn’t it. This is a knock-off or counterfeit of the black version of Optimus Prime. Captain Kyle reviews this fake version and sees if he has the same quality as the original.

The original Optimus Prime toy was Convoy, a Diaclone toy from that toy line that included small pilots or operators. The Diaclone and Microman (Microchange) lines were repurposed to give us the classic first and some of the second waves of Transformers back in the Generation One days. That mold has been reused many times. Toys include the Goodbye Convoy set in Japan, the Pepsi version of Optimus Prime, Generation Two, The New Year’s edition reissue, plus so many other reissues including a Walmart edition that didn’t come with a trailer. Plus, special editions in clear and black. There are also a lot of counterfeit “reissues,” including ones in original colors as well as special colorations. Captain Kyle examines this one to check the quality of this black edition.
