The Hunt Is On In The Predator Prequel “Prey” Trailer

They hunt to live. It lives to hunt.

Hulu has released the first official trailer for its upcoming Predator prequel film, Prey.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

The trailer begins with a very intense hunt that sees Naru tackling a ferocious grizzly bear – but little do they both know, a far deadlier force awaits. We then get a closer look at the Comanche fighters as they navigate their new threat and a look at the Predator in action.

While recent entries might have left a bitter taste for some, this new vision for The Predator franchise certainly looks an exciting one. Only time will tell if it’s a successful one.

The filmmakers were committed to creating a film that provides an accurate portrayal of the Comanche and brings a level of authenticity that rings true to its Indigenous peoples. To that end, Prey has a Comanche producer in Jhane Myers and features  a cast comprised almost entirely of Native American and First Nation talent, including star Amber Midthunder alongside newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope and Dane DiLiegro who stars as the Predator.

The film is directed by DanTrachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane).

Prey arrives on Hulu on August 5th.
