Six Things We’re Excited About After DC Fandome!

Fandome

DC Fandome: A Global Experience, a 24 hour, free virtual experience took place over the weekend and it did not disappoint! The immersive virtual convention dropped the latest in DC Comics news. We mean everything from Television, Video Games, Comics and Film, along with exclusive panels from DC’s iconic alumni.

With so many things to be excited about, we thought we narrow it down to our top six!

6. The Possibility of Booster Gold?
Blackguard
The new members of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad were revealed at DC Fandome.  There were many surprising choices, but perhaps the most surprising casting is Pete Davidson as Blackguard. Is he the physical embodiment of the word Fetch?  Fans of DC Comics Booster Gold know that Blackguard is one of the hero’s main adversaries. Does Davidson’s role hint that Booster Gold exists in the DCEU? If so, when and how will the fame-chasing hero be revealed?

5. Black Adam Trailer

Dwayne Johnson Announces Black Adam Will Arrive In December 2021 ...It’s been common knowledge that Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson would be playing the Shazam villain for what seems like forever. There were even a couple of easter eggs referencing the villain in 2019’s Shazam! film. DC Fandome gave us a look at Black Adam’s feature debut with a mini trailer for the film! The concept art teaser is narrated by Johnson and gives viewers Black Adam’s origin story. We are excited to see The Rock’s portrayal, particularly because we are one step closer to seeing him take on Shazam. He’s also a member of The Legion of Doom, which we know Lex Luthor is looking to create. Will the Rock’s Black Adam be joining them in the DCEU?

4.  Season Three of DC’s Titans
Titans TV Series

DC Universe’s Titans has proven that it’s nothing like the colorful version kids enjoy. Season 2 of the show introduced us to Aqualad, Rose Wilson, and her infamous father, Slade Wilson. It also showed Dick Grayson’s strayed relationship with Bruce Wayne and his transformation into Nightwing. Season 3 looks to dive even deeper into the complex relationship of the Bat-Family by introducing Red Hood and Barbara Gordon. Also joining in season 3 is another member of Batman’s rogues gallery, Scarecrow. Will Scarecrow prey on the Titans’ fears the way Trigon preyed on their hopes in season 2? How will Jason’s transformation go down? Whatever happens, we are excited to see the Titans again.

3. Gotham Knights Video Game

Speaking of the Bat-Family, DC Fandome dropped the trailer for Warner Bros. new game: Gotham Knights. In the Gotham Knights game, Batman is DEAD! Yes, you read that correctly. Gotham is without their hero and now it’s time for his sidekicks to take the reins. Players will be able to select from Red Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and The Red Hood as they take on a city in chaos. In previous Batman games, you have been able to play as some of the Gotham Knights either briefly in the main story or via DLCs. We can’t help but be excited to see how a game not focused on Batman’s POV works. Will the Bat-Family be able to work together or will they be enemies? You’ll have to wait till 2021 to find out.

2. Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman 1984: What We Know About Cast, Plot, Release | Time

DC Fandome had no shortage of trailers! Honestly, that’s the best part of conventions. The official trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 did not disappoint! A direct sequel to the box office hit Wonder Woman, WW84 takes place in the glittering 80’s- a tonal shift from the sepia-feel wartime setting of the last film. We get our first good look at Kristen Wiig as Cheetah, and more of Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord. Oh, and of course Steve Trevor is back. Swoon. We are looking forward to seeing the Amazonian Princess face off against two of her biggest foes. Plus, how cool was it that Lynda Carter appeared after the trailer! Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled for theatrical release on October 2nd, 2020.

1. The Batman

The Batman: Release Date, Cast & Info on Robert Pattinson's Dark ...

Let me be the first to say that I was skeptical when Robert Pattinson was announced as the new Batman.  Do I really need to explain why?  After seeing the teaser trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, I have less doubt about his casting. This film seems to tell the story of a Batman going through the growing pains of the mantle, much like Year One & Year Two Batman. The visual style of the trailer and the use of a Nirvana song is reminiscent of 1994’s The Crow. Which isn’t a bad thing. In addition to a new Batman, we get a new Catwoman in Zoe Kravitz, The Riddler in Paul Dano, The Penguin in Colin Farrell looking exactly like Richard Kind, and Jim Gordon in Jeffrey Wright. The Batman has a fresh cast, fresh perspective, and a visionary director, and that’s enough to make the top of our list!
