The psychological horror series Servant has established itself as one of the more unsettling and unpredictable series around. The Apple TV+ Original has released a trailer for the upcoming season which promises frightening times ahead.
From executive producer M. Night Shyamalan, “Servant” follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.
Picking up three months after the events of season 2, the Turner household is trying to live a normal life. Toasting motherhood and new beginnings, the family looks to leave events of the past behind them and move forward together. While all appears good on the surface, things quickly descend into something darker, as the impending threat from the cult remains high.
A new issue for the family is also teased as suspicious visitors, staked out in a nearby park, make their presence known to the Turners.
The trailer highlights the ongoing mystery surrounding Leanne and points towards even more ominous occurrences. As her relationship with Dorothy continues to spiral, events around them begin to escalate. Sean looks more trusting of Leanne, and even Julian begs Dorothy to make peace with her. Dorothy’s feelings of worry and concern for Jericho’s safety are evident though and that trust still looks shattered.
The trailer ends with Leanne revealing that “God didn’t bring back Jericho.” Leaving us to question – who did!?
The upcoming Season 3 will see series regulars Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint all return. Sunita Mani (Spirited, Mr. Robot, GLOW) will be a new addition to the cast in an unspecified role.
Shyamalan has previously spoken about how long he thinks the series will last.
“I changed my mind on [the length of the series] over the pandemic. I outlined the whole series over the pandemic and figured out where I wanted it to go and how many episodes it would be. And it came out to 40 … Instead of 60.”
Therefore, with only two more seasons planned, we hope to get some answers as to what is really going on!
Servant Season 3 premieres on AppleTV+ on January 21, 2022. New episodes will air weekly thereafter. All previous episodes can be watched on the streaming platform now.
