Ready or Not’s Samara Weaving To Lead Action-Horror Movie ‘Azrael’

Ready or Not’s Samara Weaving has been brought on board for the upcoming action-horror movie, Azrael

The news comes to us via Deadline, who report that the Australian actress is set to lead the movie, which is already being eyed by producers as a franchise. Simon Barrett – writer of the slick home-invasion horror You’re Next, and the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong sequel – pens the script.

According to Deadline, “story details are being kept under wraps on this one, but we know that Joker financier Jason Cloth and his C2 Motion Picture Group partner Dave Caplan (The End We Start From) recently won the rights in a competitive situation and will finance and produce.”

Evan Katz (Haunting Of Bly Manor) is tasked with directing the film, with principal photography slated to begin in Estonia, this October.

Weaving has made quite the name for herself since breaking onto the scene in 2019’s wildly entertaining horror-comedy, Ready or Not. Previous work in the genre has also included starring roles in 2017’s The Babysitter, and its 2020 sequel The Babysitter: Killer Queen. She will also reunite with Ready or Not directors Radio Silence for the upcoming sixth installment of the Scream franchise.

Other upcoming appearances will see Weaving star alongside Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon.

Stay tuned for more updates once we learn them.
