New Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer Introduces Christian Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher

Let me tell you the story of the space viking, Thor Odinson…

Marvel has released a brand new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Our first look at the film came from a hilarious teaser released in April, but this new footage has officially provided audiences with a first look at Thor’s nefarious new adversary.

According to Marvel’s official synopsis, the film will see Thor team up with Jane Foster, Valkyrie, and Korg to help stop Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods.

Chris Hemsworth recently promised fans that the trailer was going to blow their minds and this latest look at the film certainly delivers a lot of talking points. The trailer takes a closer look at the returning Jane Foster and what that means for Thor before giving us our first look at Christian Bale’s Gorr The God Butcher.

Check it out below.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be Thor’s fourth solo film, making Hemsworth the first Marvel actor to headline four MCU releases. The last time we saw the character was back in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

As well as starring as Korg, Taika Waititi returns to the director’s chair after helming Thor: Ragnarok in 2017. Waititi has previously described Love and Thunder as “the craziest thing” he’s ever done as a filmmaker. He has also heaped praise on Christian Bale’s Gorr, calling him Marvel’s best ever villain.

Marvel continues to dominate the world of film with its last two outings dominating at the box office. Spider-Man: No Way Home became the highest-grossing film of 2021, while Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness currently stands top of the list in 2022. The studio will hope for yet another massive performance with Thor’s latest outing.

Thor: Love and Thunder will star Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. The film will also see Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista and Bradley Cooper (the voice of Rocket) all return as the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thor: Love and Thunder will arrive in theatres on July 8th.
