Neve Campbell Confirms She Won’t Be In Scream 6

Rumors have been circulating that suggested Neve Campbell will not return as Sidney Prescott in Scream 6 and now we have confirmation.

In a statement released today, the actress said:

“Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film.

As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.

It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

What this means for the franchise moving forward is unknown, but it makes Scream 6 the very first film in the franchise to not feature franchise heroine Sidney Prescott.

New franchise cast members Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding have already signed onto to the project alongside Hayden Panettiere, who returns as fan-favorite Kirby Reed.

The next installment will see the four survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will once again helm the release which also sees James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick return to write the screenplay.

Scream 6 is expected to begin filming sometime this summer and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 31, 2023.
