More Hunter x Hunter Announcements

I can’t believe I get to type this: for once, it’s been a busy month for Hunter x Hunter fans.

Fandom Spotlite has reported on the announcement of Volume 37 of the Hunter x Hunter manga going into print at the beginning of next month. This is great news, since Hunter x Hunter has been sitting at 36 volumes for the better part of 4 years. Volume 37 finally puts into print the ten chapters that were previously only available online, if you knew where to look.

But after four hopeful years, we rejoice – because we’re getting new chapters!

In May, Hunter x Hunter writer Yoshihiro Togashi joined Twitter as user @Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp and began updating his fans on the progress he had been making on writing new chapters. Every few days, he would post a photo of what he was working on. Sometimes it came with a caption to let his followers know what chapter he had made it to, or an update on how he was feeling.

On September 1st, 2022, Togashi tweeted: “For the time being, there are 9 episodes left for the next 10 episodes. No400…Specified creation completed. Awaiting return. Making a book cover. Editing and revising the manuscript for the book.”

On Monday, Shonen Jump tweeted to announce that brand new weekly chapters of Hunter x Hunter will be available in Japanese and in English starting on October 23, 2022! That means that Hunter x Hunter will be re-entering serialization, effectively ending the infamous hiatus (and the painful fake announcements every April Fools Day on social media). In addition to this, the previous 390  Hunter x Hunter chapters will join the VIZ Media digital library.

But wait, there’s more!

Today, unofficial sources have leaked that the Hunter x Hunter anime will be releasing a special video on October 28, 2022. There is speculation regarding whether this video is simply a celebration of the return of the manga, or if it’s an announcement for the return of the anime. What is confirmed is that the video will feature the bright and shining faces of Gon and Killua. Welcome back, boys!

In the words of Marie Kondo, “this sparks joy.”

What are your thoughts about the special video? Do you think the Hunter x Hunter anime will be returning soon? Let us know in the comments below!
