Fans eagerly awaiting the release of Morbius will have to wait a little longer. The film, originally set for a January 28th release, has been pushed back once again to April 1st.
Uncertainty around the pandemic has already caused numerous delays and the rapid rise in Omicron cases is likely a factor once again.
Morbius will be Sony’s latest Spider-Man spin-off and will see Jared Leto star in the lead role. In the film, Michael Morbius is a scientist who unwittingly transforms himself into a vampire whilst trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.
Speaking of Spider-Man, Tom Holland has already stated how he’d like his iteration of the character to tangle with Morbius in the future. Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes, the actor was asked who were his top three Spider-Man villains and who he wanted to fight the most.
“That’s tricky. I think the Vulture is going to be in there because he’s my first and that was cool. I think Jake’s [Mysterio] has got to be in there because he’s my love. And I think Willem – the fight scenes that we have with Willem are crazy and so scary that it really was awesome to explore different kinds of Spider-Man action.”
Holland then spoke about who he’d like to face next, saying:
“I actually think the Morbius film looks really cool. And it’s more scary, that film. I think it could be quite a cool thing… Spider-Man versus a vampire.”
It was only a few weeks ago when Sony released an exclusive scene from the film showing Leto’s Morbius transform into a vampire for the first time.
