The Fandom Spotlite Cast List puts together for your and my convenience this week’s significant casting announcements for some of the most anticipated projects in Fandom!
Blue Beetle
Screen icon, Sharon Stone, is in talks to play the main villain in DC/WB’s Blue Beetle. In an article written on Deadline, Stone will be playing a new character who is the wife of Ted Kord. Comic book fans will recognize that name, as Kord was the second Blue Beetle. Sharon Stone will be joining an all-star cast that includes Xolo Maridueña, George Lopez, Adrianna Barraza, Harvey Guillén, Bruna Marquezine, Damián Alcázar, Belissa Escobedo, and Elpidia Carrillo. This is not Stone’s first time being a villain in a DC Comic film; the actress was the villain in Halle Berry’s Catwoman. Blue Beetle is slated to have a theatrical release on Aug. 18, 2023.
One Piece
Speaking on villains, Peter Gadiot has been cast as the sometimes friend, mostly villain Shanks, in Netflix’s One Piece. Fans of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will remember Gadiot as the genie in love with Alice named Cyrus. Netflix has already cast Inaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Taz Skylar, Jacob Romero Gibson, Morgan Davis, Aidan Scott, and Ilia Isorelys Paulino in pivotal roles for the live-action adaptation.
Gotham Knights
The CW has added another Batfamily member to its upcoming Gotham Knights series. Actress Anna Lore will be playing Stephanie Brown, aka Spoiler. Olivia Rose Keegan will join Lore as Duela Dent/Joker’s Daughter, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes, Misha Collins as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, and Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row. Gotham Knights already has a large cast. Will they continue to add more Batfamily members or perhaps other famous sidekicks?
