Blood Is Spilled In Full Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Vikings: Valhalla’

Netflix has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming series Vikings: Valhalla. Set 100 years after the events of Vikings, it will serve as a follow-up to the original series.

The full trailer focuses on historic battle scenes and the real-life characters that will serve as the focus for the new Netflix original.

The full synopsis reads:

Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived – the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson, his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson. As tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point and as the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, these three Vikings begin an epic journey that will take them across oceans and through battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory. Vikings: Valhalla, set over a hundred years after the end of the original Vikings series, is a new adventure that blends historical authenticity and drama with gritty, immersive action.

Check out the trailer below.

The series will star Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, David Oakes, Laura Berlin, and The Walking Dead’s Pollyanna McIntosh.

Executive producer Michael Hirst has spoken about his excitement for the series, saying:

“I am beyond excited that we are announcing the continuation of our Vikings saga. I know that the millions of our fans across the globe will be thrilled by the belief being shown in our show by MGM and Netflix. Jeb Stuart, a truly wonderful writer, will bring new storylines and a powerful visceral vision to stories about some of the most famous Vikings known to history.”

The original Vikings series ran for six seasons and was noted for its bold and authentic take on Viking culture. The show originally ran on History, before moving to Amazon Prime for the second half of season 6. Vikings: Valhalla was announced back in 2019 with Netflix providing the spin-off with a new home.

Given the 100-year time jump, Valhalla will give new viewers, who haven’t seen the original series, the chance to jump into this world without having to binge multiple seasons first.

Vikings: Valhalla premieres exclusively on Netflix on February 25th.
