It’s a Barbie World, and we are all just living in it! We previously reported that a live-action Barbie is in the works, and it stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. However, Barbie’s dream house is big enough to host many friends! Recent casting news confirms that Barbie’s friends have gotten the invite to come party! Ah! Ah! Ah! Yeah!
The star of Shang-Chi, Simu Liu, is joining the Barbie film. Also joining the good-looking cast is Ugly Betty star America Ferrera. Greta Gerwig is signed on to produce and helm the film from a script she wrote with Noah Baumbach.
Not much else is known about the film, including Liu’s and Ferrera’s roles. We do know that filming is scheduled to begin sometime this year.
Barbie has had several animated films featuring the classic doll as several princesses, a fairy, and even a mermaid.
