5 Anime Characters Born on Christmas

I’ve always thought that it must be a bit of a bummer to have a Christmas birthday. Instead of receiving presents at least twice a year, the two biggest gift-giving occasions are lumped together, and it’s unlikely that someone is going to get double gifts just because they were born on Christmas. It’s like a two-for-one deal for the person’s family and friends, but a total rip-off for the person with the Christmas birthday. Plus, if you throw a birthday party on your actual birthday, it pretty much automatically becomes a Christmas party instead. The holiday steals the spotlight from people born on Christmas, which I think is pretty unfair. Here are 5 anime characters with the misfortune of having a birthday on December 25th.

Levi Ackerman (Attack On Titan)

Does Christmas even exist in the Attack On Titan universe? Creator Hajime Isayama has drawn some official Christmas art, but he has also drawn official art of the characters in a modern setting, and since that art is clearly not canon we can’t count on the Christmas art being canon, either. Here’s the art I’m referring to:

Levi’s wearing a Santa hat in this illustration, so maybe if Christmas does exist in this universe, he doesn’t mind celebrating the holiday in lieu of his birthday. Levi seems like the type of person to keep his birth date a secret and refuse to make a big deal out of it, anyway.

Misa Amane (Death Note)

Misa loves attention, so I can’t imagine she enjoys having her birthday overshadowed by this major holiday. I’m willing to bet she asks people (especially Light) to buy her twice as many gifts.

Victor Nikiforov (Yuri!! On Ice)

Somehow, Victor being born on Christmas just makes sense to me. Maybe it’s because ice skating is such a wintry activity, or because of the red-and-white color scheme of his jersey. I can 100% imagine Victor dressing up as Santa Claus, and having a great time doing so. If anyone is going to enjoy having a Christmas birthday, I think it’s this guy.

Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom)

You’ve heard of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, now get ready for Karma the Red-Haired Assassin. Shopping for him is probably a nightmare because I don’t even want to imagine what he would say or do if you bought him something he didn’t like.

Gou Matsuoka (Free!)

We don’t need to speculate about how Gou handles having a Christmas birthday, because the adorable piece of official art below answers this question: apparently, her brother Rin and their friend Sousuke combine her birthday and Christmas into one celebration. Well, at least they used to when they were kids. I’d like to think they picked this tradition back up after Rin returned from Australia.
