Fandom Spotlite’s Most Anticipated Films of 2021

A new year brings with it new possibilities and hope. If you’re a fandom fan, it also brings us the chance to revisit old fandoms and find new ones. As 2021 kicks off, the internet, tried to decide what the most anticipated film of 2021 is. There is a long list of potential releases for 2021, but the internet seemed to believe Jared Leto’s Morbius is the winner.

This got us at Fandom Spotlite thinking about what films we are excited to watch in 2021. Let’s just say, none of us picked Morbius. No offense to anyone excited about this film. Here are Fandom Spotlite’s most anticipated films of 2021.

Indiana Jones 5 (July 9, 2021) – Kyle’s Pick

“I am hoping it’s the Star Trek 6 of the Indiana Jones series. An apology for the horrible last one.”

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (April 2, 2021) – Mae’s Pick

“The first film is genuinely, unironically one of my favorite movies ever. I watched it thinking it would be a painfully corny kids movie but it was so fun, wholesome, and really turns up the serotonin. I don’t know how they can top it but I’m looking forward to seeing it, and have been eagerly awaiting the release since last year.”

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Summer 2021) – Mike’s Pick

“Bustin makes me feel good! This summer I am very much looking forward to seeing one of my favorite franchises return with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The trailer alone gave off that old nostalgic feels that sometimes give you the chills. And, with Paul Rudd on board it’s bound to be a fun summer blockbusting adventure.”

In The Heights (June 18, 2021) – Rachel’s Pick

“I loved this musical to pieces and ever since I saw the show live when it toured my area I have the soundtrack on repeat. It’s got an amazing story and ever since I saw the teasers I’m excited to see this musical come to the big screen! If you haven’t checked out this musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, you’re missing out on a gem!”

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (June 4, 2021) – Peak’s Pick

“I’ve been a fan of the Conjuring since the first film debuted way back in 2013. The subsequent films are debatable. I’m definitely excited to see where the next film takes the Warrens and to have it take place in court is super scary. I mean…what is more, frightening than court anyway. ”

Mortal Kombat (April 16, 2021) – Yali’s Pick

“Maybe it is because I’m a millennial, but I really liked the original Mortal Kombat films. I even remember the show that would come on after wrestling. So, I am excited to see what an MK film will look like in 2021. The cast features several actors I love from other films and shows. I hear the soundtrack for this film is going to be outstanding. It has all the pieces for a fantastic action film.”
