Studios have been pandering to Millenial nostalgia to make a few billion dollars. Some attempts were successful, like Sonic: The Hedgehog and making Champions cool again. We could think of more if we tried! The original creators of the 90s classic cartoon, Swat Katz, are rebooting the series. Swat Katz may arrive sooner than anticipated as the show is already pre-production. This show could also be directly linked to why many Millenials are also furries.

Snow White Responds

Rachel Zegler, playing Snow White in the upcoming Disney remake, responded to Peter Dinklage’s criticism of the film. More specifically, the representation of the seven dwarves. The Game of Thrones star was quoted as saying, “Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. But you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there. It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way but then you’re still making that fucking backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the fuck are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soap box? I guess I’m not loud enough. I don’t know which studio that is but they were so proud of it. All love and respect to the actress and all the people who thought they were doing the right thing. But I’m just like, what are you doing?”

The Latina actress made her statement in response, “Never in a million years did I imagine that this would be a possibility for me. You don’t normally see Snow Whites that are of Latin descent. Even though Snow White is really a big deal in Spanish-speaking countries. Blanca Nieves is a huge icon whether you’re talking about the Disney cartoon or just different iterations and the Grimm fairy tale and all the stories that come with it. But you don’t particularly see people who look like me or are me playing roles like that. When it was announced, it was a huge thing that was trending on Twitter for days, because all of the people were angry. We need to love them in the right direction. At the end of the day, I have a job to do that I’m really excited to do. I get to be a Latina princess.”

Zegler focused more on the importance of her role for herself and the Latin community instead of addressing Dinklage’s comments directly. Zegler did receive backlash for her casting, a similar experience to actress Halle Bailey when her Ariel casting was revealed.

Titans adds More Blood

Season 4 of Titans might take us all to church—the Church of Blood. Recent casting news reveals that is the direction season 4 is going. Joseph Morgan will play Sebastian Blood/ Brother Blood. Franka Potente will play May Bennett/ Mother Mayhem. Both characters are founding members of the Church of Blood. Also joining the cast is Lisa Ambalavanar; Ambalavanar will play Jinx. Alice is getting a tv series, but it will be nothing like the Disney version, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. American McGee’s Alice is being developed into a TV show by Ted Field’s Radar Pictures and Abandon Entertainment with David Hayter set to write, produce, and showrun the adaptation.

David Hayter is best known for writing X-Men and  X2 X-Men United films. Fans of video games know him best for voicing Metal Gear’s protagonist, Solid Snake. American McGee’s Alice series is a macabre unauthorized continuation of the two surreal classic children’s novels written by Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Alice in catatonia in the asylum. The series focuses on Alice struggling with her mental illness, her recovery from her insanity, and her dealing with the border between reality and a corrupted nightmarish Wonderland.
